A plant-based diet transformed their lives, their health, and the symptoms of their medical illnesses; discover incredible stories of dogs thriving on plant-based diets from across the world.

Freddy - 8 years young

Freddy was rescued when he was 3, he had mange, heart-warm and a lot of skin issues and was super scared of loud sounds and trains.

Soon after his adoption, his parents switched him to a vegan diet and it was so easy for him, like if he was made to eat a plant based diet 🌱

With a lots of care and coconut oil, his skin gets better and know he’s so soft and fluffy and being vegan is a part of that fore sure ! 💚

His mama said despite what he has been through, he didn’t lose hope in people and this is heart melting 🦋

Some of his favourite food are seaweed, sweet potatoes, kale chips and peanut butter !

Freddy’s story is so beautiful and inspiring ❤️

This is Freddy when he was rescued and this is him now, on the right ! ❤️

Joey - 12 years young

Joey’s Mum was looking to save a puppy and get him almost 13 years ago from a sketchy person online who wanted to get rid of puppies.

Joey was the smallest of the litter, super shy and fearful.

He’s vegan for about 6 years now.

He used to get really bad allergies in the spring and fall which he still gets but the severity is way lower.

He used to scratch his skin so much until it drew blood. He gets itchy skin sometimes in the fall and winter but it’s manageable and he healed almost completely thanks to his vegan diet.

He gets yearly check ups and his vet, who is non vegan, always says “all dogs should be vegan”.

He is 12 yrs old and everyone thinks he’s a puppy because he has so much energy and is so healthy :)

Ella - 5 years young

Ella is from Germany, and her parents decided to adopt a homeless dog ❤️

She was adopted from her Forster family, when she was 9 months old.

With her new parents, she finally found her 6th home, her forever home.

Her biological parents met at the shelter in Romania where she was born.

From her first Forster family, she moved to a cats household where she was fixed to a closet, where she needed to leave, after she found her next '' home '' at an old couple place, where she could't stay, that's why she's so scared and stressed by old men.

Then a woman called Lina took her and she meet her forever parents there.

For Ella's parents, as vegan, it didn’t felt right to kill other animals and participle to the death and cruelty against animals to feed another animal, and for them it was natural to feed Ella a vegan and cruelty free diet, as it's totally healthy, ethical and reality free option.

Ella is an active, curious and shy dog, that loves to run, climb, evolving her inner child and learning how too handle her high stress by doing training and sports.

She's been vegan after a few weeks she arrived her forever home, and she's thriving on her vegan diet since then, growing up super healthy with a shiny soft coat !

Oily - 6 years young

Oily is a former street dog from Romania and she was adopted three years ago after parents met her in her foster home.

She was found at a „Luk Oil“ gasoline and that’s why they named her Oily 😊

Her parents and her became a strong team and they can’t imagine the time before they adopted her!

Oily's food is vegan because her parents love all animals and don’t want to be responsible for an animals suffering or death.

Also Oily really loves many vegetables and especially her vegan dog food which covers all her needs 🌱

Since Oily gets her vegan diet her fur became really soft and shiny and she's thriving ✨

Ingvild and Torun - Rescued in 2019 & 2021

“ We are two rescue dogs from Ireland and are now living a happy peaceful vegan life in Stockholm Sweden.

In 2019 Ingvild was found in a dog pound where she was about to be euthanized. They had a strict rule of not letting the dogs live longer than five days after being captured from the streets or dumped at the pound. Ingvild was in really bad shape, underweight, full of scabies and injured tail. After being rescued and got medical care we found her on a adoption page and fell immediately in love. Within a week after that, she was home 💚

In 2021 we started to look for a little sister to Ingvild. We contacted a rescue adoption organisation for help. And about two months after, they had found Torun, and once more we fell in love. Torun was found by an abandoned house all along with another dog, they were left to fend for themselves. About one month after they reached out to us about Torun she was home with us and now we are a happy family of four 🐶🐶

Us being vegan was never a question. Right after being adopted we started adapting to a vegan diet and it has never been a issue. Both are healthy and praised by our vets, we are active and strong l, fast and playful. Our fur is silky smooth and shiny, and our digestion is impeccable ⭐️

Ingvild even had a serious injury from a accident in 2020 that she recovered from outstandingly well and our vets was immensely impressed by her healing journey 🌱🐕 Being vegan has obviously never caused a issue with their health 💚”

Princess, 6 years young

From raw bones to vegan

Princess' story is inspiring, as she demonstrates how a dog raised on a traditional diet with raw bones can be so enthusiastic about plant-based meals!

In Princess's Mum words; " We adopted a 6 year old Koolie, named Princess, who had only ever been fed kibble and raw bones. Some of her teeth were worn down from having too many bones. We found the transition to plant based/vegan food really easy, Princess would occasionally even drool when she could smell her food being prepared. Princess loved every plant based food we gave her, with her favourite being carrots and sheets of seaweed."

Shelby has been in her best shape ever since being plant-based !

Shelby is Princess's sister, of whom you've read the beautiful story above.

Shelby's Mum is very enthusiastic about the changes Shelby has experienced since being plant-based "My little mixed breed girl, Shelby, used to have skin issues. However, once we transitioned her to plant based her itchy paws cleared up. We noticed a real change after being fed plant based, her coat improved and I believe she was in the best shape she’d ever been in."

Ruby and her sister have lived well into their senior years on a plant-based diet!

These two beautiful girls have lived a long and healthy life on a plant-based diet, and what their Mum says about it is emotional;

"I adopted a senior Dachshund x Pomeranian who was the fussiest dog I’ve ever known. My partner and I were only vegetarian at the time and feeding our other dog animal products. We had tried a number of different animal based pet foods and she didn’t take to any of them. It wasn’t until I met Ruby the Kelpie from the animal sanctuary, Edgar’s Mission, that I saw how much a dog can thrive on a vegan diet. By this time my partner and I were vegan, so after seeing how healthy and active Ruby was, we decided to give Veganpet a go. I was worried that my fussy girl wouldn’t like it, but to our surprise she liked it straight away and we had no problems with transitioning both dogs, meal times actually because a lot easier. Both girls lived well into their senior years, with my Dachshund x Pomeranian living another 8 years until she died of old age at nearly 16 1/2 years old. But, even at 16 she would run around like a playful puppy, with no joint or movement issues that are common in older dogs."

Shayla's plant-based diet dramatically improved her condition!

I have a Kelpie x Border Collie who was born with a condition called Cerebellar Ataxia, which means she has balance and coordination issues. When she was a puppy, her rescuer nicknamed her ‘Jelly’ because she really struggled to walk and her whole body was wobbly. There is no medication to treat her condition, so to manage it we have to maintain her muscle mass. She has been on Veganpet and Prime100 Pea and Algae loaf since we adopted her when she was 1, and we have seen such a big improvement in her condition. She has great muscle mass, which has made her body wobble far less. She also has the shiniest black coat and absolutely loves her food.
